COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Cold air lingers this morning, the kind that stings the face when you step outside before sunrise. Winds still whisper through the Front Range foothills, but the brunt of yesterday’s dry cold front has moved east. Clear skies stretch across southern Colorado, and temperatures hover near 30°F, though the wind chill feels closer to 20°F.

The week begins calm, but the pattern won’t stay that way. High pressure builds through Monday and Tuesday, bringing back sunshine and milder air. Colorado Springs and Pueblo will warm into the upper 60s and low 70s by Veterans Day — a perfect setup for outdoor ceremonies and local parades. Light west winds will keep skies clear and travel along I-25 and Highway 50 smooth through midweek.

But this early calm marks a brief pause before another shift. A developing system in the western Rockies will slide east late Thursday into Friday, bringing increasing clouds and gusty winds to the plains. The National Weather Service in Pueblo notes that snow is expected along the mountains, where slick and hazardous travel could return to passes like Monarch and La Veta by Friday night.

Lower elevations, including Pueblo and Colorado Springs, will likely stay dry, though temperatures dip into the upper 50s by Friday.

After a breezy weekend start, this week’s theme is all about balance — mild Veterans Day warmth followed by a cold reminder that November’s winter edge is near.
