Denver, CO – Severe weather is expected to impact Denver and the eastern half of Colorado this afternoon and evening, with threats of damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning for scattered to numerous thunderstorms, predicting that some storms may become severe between 3 PM and 9 PM.

According to the NWS, the main threats include hail up to 1.75 inches in diameter and wind gusts reaching 70 mph. A few severe storms may also affect the Urban Corridor and foothills. Non-severe storms could still produce significant wind gusts up to 50 mph and heavy rain, increasing the risk of flash flooding in prone areas, particularly burn scars.

In addition to the severe weather threat, an air quality alert is in effect until 4 PM MDT. The air quality index stands at 36, which is considered good but warrants attention due to the ongoing weather conditions.

Today’s high is expected to reach 94°F with partly cloudy skies. Thursday will see slightly cooler temperatures, with a high of 90°F and similar weather patterns. By Friday, expect a high of 88°F with fewer clouds, transitioning to cooler and clearer conditions over the weekend with highs in the mid-60s. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding and high winds.
