Pueblo, Colorado – Southern Colorado heads into a weekend warm-up, with plains cities like Pueblo and La Junta climbing toward 90°F by Monday, while the mountains brace for daily afternoon storms.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, high temperatures will rise steadily through Monday, with the eastern plains seeing highs from the mid-70s Friday to near 89°F by Monday. Mountain valleys such as Alamosa will hover in the low 70s, while higher elevations from Salida to Westcliffe face scattered afternoon thunderstorms each day, especially Friday and Saturday.

Travelers heading into the mountains should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads in storm-hit areas. Temperatures will remain above freezing even at elevation, limiting snow but raising the risk for localized flooding. Outdoor plans in the San Juans or Sangre de Cristos may be interrupted by lightning or brief downpours.

Residents across the plains should stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon heat, and keep an eye on changing conditions—especially if traveling west into storm-prone zones.

The warming trend is expected to continue into next week, with continued afternoon storm chances in the mountains and valleys. Updates will be issued daily as conditions evolve.
