Denver, CO – A weak cold front is expected to move across Colorado early Wednesday morning, bringing a slight reprieve from the recent high temperatures. The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder reports that the cold front will reduce daytime highs by 3-4 degrees, providing some relief from the intense summer heat. Despite the cooler temperatures, conditions will remain mostly sunny with highs still reaching into the mid to upper 90s across much of the state.

Breezy conditions are expected to accompany the cold front, particularly across the plains. However, winds over the active fire regions are anticipated to be light, which should aid firefighting efforts but won’t alleviate smoke impacts. Residents should be aware that smoke from wildfires will continue to affect air quality, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. An air quality alert is in effect until 4:00 PM MDT on Wednesday, cautioning residents to limit outdoor activities if possible.

As the week progresses, temperatures are expected to rebound, with highs climbing back into the upper 90s on Thursday and near 100 degrees in some areas. The forecast for the remainder of the week shows mostly sunny skies and continued hot conditions, with temperatures remaining in the mid to upper 90s through Monday.
