Denver, Colorado – Gusty winds and isolated afternoon storms are expected to sweep across Colorado Tuesday, bringing short bursts of heavy rain and small hail from the foothills to the eastern plains.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, storms will begin forming between early and mid-afternoon, especially along the I-25 corridor and higher terrain. Wind gusts may reach 50 mph, and while rainfall will generally remain light, stronger cells could produce brief downpours and small hail as they push east.
Greeley and Fort Morgan could see the most intense activity, where highs near 96°F will fuel stronger updrafts. Metro Denver, Boulder, and Castle Rock will also face sporadic storms through early evening, making conditions unpredictable for commuters and outdoor plans.
Drivers should watch for rapidly changing weather, particularly on I-25, US-85, and I-70 near Bennett and Limon. The combination of wind and heat may also elevate fire concerns in dry areas.
Storms are expected to dissipate by early evening, but similar pop-up activity could return later this week.
