Pueblo, Colo. – Strong thunderstorms could rattle eastern Colorado late Tuesday afternoon through the evening, bringing hail and damaging winds to much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the best chance for severe storms will occur between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., with some systems lingering into the late evening, especially across the plains. Primary threats include hail up to the size of quarters and wind gusts reaching 60 mph.

Communities from Pueblo and Colorado Springs to La Junta, Lamar, and Springfield are under a marginal to slight risk for severe weather. Drivers along U.S. Highways 50 and 287 should prepare for rapidly changing road conditions, while residents are urged to secure outdoor items and remain weather-aware.

The storm setup is fueled by afternoon heat and increasing moisture, common in late spring across the Front Range and High Plains. While widespread tornadoes are not expected, isolated cells could produce brief funnel clouds.

More updates will be issued as the storm system develops. Affected residents should monitor local alerts and consider delaying travel during peak storm hours.
