Sacramento, California – Breezy winds and bone-dry air could create dangerous fire weather conditions across interior Northern California from Friday through Saturday, especially in the Delta, Valley, and lower foothills.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, winds are expected to shift from the north on Friday (10–15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph) to the south on Saturday (15–20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph). Daytime humidity will plunge to between 10–20%, with some areas likely dipping even lower, creating prime conditions for rapid wildfire spread.

Communities across Sacramento, Yolo, Solano, and San Joaquin counties are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure trailer chains, and keep vehicles off dry grass. Authorities also warn against using equipment that sparks, especially during peak afternoon heat.

This warning includes much of Interstate 5 and Highway 99 corridors, where vegetation is already dry. Similar conditions in recent years have led to fast-moving grass fires in the same zones.

The elevated fire weather conditions remain in effect through Saturday evening. Residents should stay alert to any updates and follow local fire agency guidance.
