Colorado Springs, CO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday as snow and freezing temperatures continue to impact central and southern Colorado. Up to 4 inches of snow are expected, with icy roads causing hazardous conditions for the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, additional snowfall will taper off by Wednesday afternoon, but dangerously cold wind chills will persist. A cold weather advisory takes effect at 8 p.m. Wednesday through 8 a.m. Thursday, with wind chills dropping as low as -20°F. Prolonged exposure could lead to frostbite in just 30 minutes.
Thursday will bring a brief reprieve, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 38°F, but another snowstorm is expected late Thursday into Saturday morning. The San Juan Mountains could see over 2 feet of snow, making travel dangerous in high-elevation areas.
Drivers should use caution on I-25 and local roads, as black ice may form overnight. Residents should dress in layers, bring pets inside, and check road conditions by dialing 511.
A milder pattern is expected by Sunday, but another storm could develop midweek. Stay updated with the latest advisories from NWS.
