Grand Junction, CO – A winter storm is set to impact western Colorado, bringing snow showers overnight before transitioning into rain by Thursday. The National Weather Service in Grand Junction warns of accumulating snow in the mountains, with 4 to 8 inches possible in the Gore and Elk Mountains. Lower elevations, including Grand Junction, could see rain and wet roads through Thursday night.

According to the NWS, snow will begin tapering off Wednesday evening, but another system arrives Thursday, bringing gusty winds and additional precipitation. Snowfall could reach up to two feet in higher elevations by the weekend, with rain expected in the valleys.

Travelers should prepare for slick roads, particularly on I-70 and US-50, where snowfall could reduce visibility. Winds up to 20 mph may create additional hazards. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for commutes and check road conditions before traveling.

The storm will clear by Friday, just in time for Valentine’s Day plans. However, another round of precipitation is possible Saturday. Stay updated with local forecasts and be prepared for changing road conditions.
