Goodland, KS – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for northwest Kansas, eastern Colorado, and southwest Nebraska from 5 p.m. MST (6 p.m. CST) Tuesday through 5 p.m. MST (6 p.m. CST) Wednesday. The storm is expected to bring 3 to 6 inches of snow, creating hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Goodland, accumulating snow will begin after sunset Tuesday, with the heaviest snowfall occurring overnight into early Wednesday morning. Snow will taper off from west to east by midday Wednesday. Winds between 10 and 25 mph may cause blowing and drifting snow, further reducing visibility.
Wind chills could drop as low as -15°F overnight, increasing the risk of frostbite for those exposed to the elements. Drivers should prepare for snow-covered roads, sudden visibility reductions, and icy conditions. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, avoid sudden braking, and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready.
Residents in affected areas, including Goodland, Burlington, and Benkelman, should monitor weather updates and consider delaying travel until conditions improve.
