Denver, CO – A severe heat wave is set to strike Colorado, with temperatures predicted to reach triple digits. The National Weather Service Denver/Boulder warns residents to prepare for extreme heat conditions starting this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat wave will bring prolonged periods of above-normal temperatures, beginning this weekend and extending through next week. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s along the I-25 corridor, with the eastern plains experiencing highs around 100 degrees from Sunday through early next week. Denver is forecasted to see temperatures ranging from 95 to 101 degrees, with similar conditions expected in Fort Collins and Greeley.

Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this intense heat. Hydration is critical, and it is advised to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Using air conditioning or seeking out cool places such as libraries or community centers can help mitigate the effects of the heat. Outdoor activities should be scheduled for early morning or late evening hours when temperatures are lower. The peak heat typically occurs in the afternoon, making it the most dangerous time for heat-related illnesses.
