Grand Junction, CO – A powerful winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall to Colorado’s mountains from late Thursday through Saturday. Forecasters warn of widespread precipitation and hazardous travel conditions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, a surge of deep subtropical moisture will hit western Colorado and eastern Utah, delivering one to two feet of snow in higher elevations. Lower elevations will see a mix of rain and snow as warmer air moves in.

Winter storm watches are in effect for much of the Colorado High Country, including Aspen, Vail, and Telluride. Travel through mountain corridors will be treacherous, with reduced visibility and icy roads expected.

Officials urge travelers to plan ahead and check for road closures. The storm is forecast to weaken by late Saturday, but lingering snow and ice could still impact travel.
