Tallahassee, FL – Severe storms are expected to impact the Florida Panhandle overnight into Thursday, bringing the potential for damaging winds, hail, and brief tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a cold front will push through the region, triggering a line of thunderstorms. Some storms could become severe, with primary threats including wind gusts strong enough to cause damage, hail up to a quarter size, and isolated tornadoes. Localized flash flooding is also possible as heavy rain moves through.

The storm system is expected to develop after midnight, with the most likely window for severe weather between 2 a.m. and midday Thursday. The greatest risk covers southeast Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle, though storms will continue moving eastward through the morning and early afternoon.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay weather-aware, secure outdoor items, and have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight.
