Denver, CO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska, bringing snow, high winds, and hazardous travel conditions through Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations will range from one to eight inches across affected areas, with the heaviest snowfall expected in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and East Lake County. Wind gusts could reach up to 70 mph, creating widespread blowing snow and significantly reducing visibility.

Major highways, including Interstate 70, are expected to see delays and dangerous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and avoid unnecessary travel. The strongest impacts will be felt in locations such as Denver, Colorado Springs, Trinidad, and Colby, KS.

In Kansas and Nebraska, wet snow and strong winds could lead to tree damage and power outages. Areas including McCook, Norton, and Colby may experience slick roads during the morning and evening commutes.

Authorities urge residents to stay updated with local weather alerts and road condition updates by calling 511 or visiting state transportation websites. Those traveling should prepare for delays, carry an emergency kit, and avoid using GPS for alternate routes due to possible road closures.

This winter storm is expected to taper off by late Tuesday night, but lingering winds could still cause reduced visibility into Wednesday morning.
