College of DuPage Displays “Hokusai and Ukiyo-e” Exhibit

Glen Ellyn, IL — The College of DuPage (COD) McAninch Arts Center is known to host large, special exhibit in the Cleve Carney Museum of Art. This year the college’s summer exhibit “Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: The Floating World” will feature work by Japanese artists Hokusai and Hiroshige. Works from other contemporary artists like Naperville artist Rich Lo will also be featured. 

“Hokusai and Ukiyo-e” includes 10,000 square feet of immersive experiences about Japanese Edo (now Tokyo) culture. The exhibit features a o 70-piece collection made up of 53 ukiyo-e paintings and woodblock prints. This includes never-before-seen in the U.S. pieces from the Chiossone Collection. The exhibit will also have an anime area and a Japanese garden. 

In partnership with McAninch at COD, Naperville artist Rich Lo has created several unique artworks to be displayed in different cities around DuPage County, including a temporary art installation at the Morton Arboretum. 

The “Hokusai and Ukiyo-e” exhibit will open on May 31 until September 21 The exhibit will be open several hours each day of the week but Monday, when the museum is closed. Tickets start at $12. 

The 2021 summer exhibition at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art highlighted Frida Kahlo. The 2023 exhibit featured works by Andy Warhol.
