Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma residents are waking up to frigid temperatures Thursday, with wind chills dipping as low as -5°F. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m., urging people to limit outdoor exposure to avoid hypothermia.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Tulsa, Arctic air will linger through the weekend, keeping temperatures below average. Friday, Valentine’s Day, brings a brief warm-up, with highs reaching the mid-40s under partly sunny skies. However, a storm system is set to develop late Friday into Saturday, bringing rain and possible wintry precipitation to northeast Oklahoma.
Saturday’s forecast calls for a 40% chance of rain and highs near 54°F before another round of bitter cold moves in Saturday night, dropping temperatures into the teens. Gusty winds up to 25 mph will make conditions feel even colder.
Sunday and Monday will see mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing. Another potential winter system could impact the region early next week.
Residents should stay weather-aware and prepare for dangerous wind chills. Keep pets indoors, dress in layers, and check on elderly neighbors.
