Grand Junction, CO – Colorado residents should prepare for snow showers and colder-than-normal temperatures tonight, especially in the northern mountains and valleys. Travel along I-70 and surrounding roads may experience minor disruptions as light snow accumulates.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Junction, snow showers will taper off by sunrise Wednesday, with minimal accumulation expected. Highs across most areas will remain 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal norms through midweek. A warming trend is expected Wednesday and Thursday before a stronger cold spell returns this weekend.

Drivers are urged to use caution, particularly on mountain passes, as icy spots are possible overnight. While the snow impacts are projected to be minimal, the colder weather increases risks of frostbite and hypothermia for those spending extended periods outdoors. Residents should dress warmly and check heating systems ahead of a deeper freeze expected on Sunday.

Wednesday’s high temperatures will peak near 41 degrees in Grand Junction, with sunny skies and light winds forecast. Overnight lows will drop to 18 degrees, while Thursday offers slightly warmer highs of 43 degrees. Snow showers could return late Friday into Saturday, particularly for mountain regions, with temperatures plunging into the single digits by Sunday morning.

Looking ahead, below-zero temperatures are possible early next week for higher elevations. Anyone planning outdoor activities should monitor updated forecasts for changing conditions.
