Albuquerque, NM – Gusty winds and seasonally chilly temperatures are sweeping through New Mexico, creating brisk conditions for Monday evening and Tuesday. Eastern regions experienced tapering winds at sunset, while temperatures fell to near or below freezing overnight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque reported gusty winds across the northern mountains and adjacent highlands on Tuesday. Winds could reach speeds of up to 45 mph in areas east of the Sangre de Cristo and Sandia Mountains. Meanwhile, Tuesday’s high temperatures are expected to hover in the 30s and 40s across much of the region.

The cold conditions extend into lower elevations, with breezy weather persisting through midweek. Mild temperatures are forecast later in the week as winds ease. Residents are advised to prepare for chilly mornings and potential travel disruptions from strong gusts, particularly in exposed areas.

High temperatures will rise significantly by Friday, offering relief after the cold snap. Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and surrounding communities should see highs climb into the 50s and 60s by the weekend.
