Newport, NC – A cold weather advisory remains in effect for eastern North Carolina until 10 a.m. Friday, with wind chills dropping as low as 6°F. Residents are urged to dress warmly, limit outdoor exposure, and check on vulnerable individuals.
According to the National Weather Service, overnight lows will hover around 22°F, with northwest winds up to 15 mph. Friday will be sunny but brisk, reaching only 40°F. Temperatures will plummet again Friday night, dipping to 17°F.
Saturday will bring increasing clouds and a daytime high of 48°F, with calmer winds. By Sunday, sunshine will return, pushing temperatures up to 55°F. A steady warming trend continues into next week, with highs nearing 60°F by Monday and mid-60s by Tuesday.
Residents should use caution while traveling, wear appropriate clothing, and bring pets inside. Warmer conditions are on the horizon, but cold nights will persist through the weekend.
