The air feels damp and mild at 62 degrees. Headlights glow along College Road and Market Street as drivers ease through patchy mist.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, patchy fog will linger through mid-morning before showers become more widespread. Rain chances climb to 80% today, with highs reaching 65 degrees. Periods of moderate rain could create slick spots on I-40 and U.S. 17 by late morning.

Showers and a few thunderstorms remain possible into tonight. Rainfall amounts between a quarter and half inch could fall in heavier cells. Gusty northeast winds develop late, signaling a colder air mass pushing toward the coast.

Sunday stays unsettled with showers likely and highs near 59 degrees. Winds increase through the afternoon, with gusts up to 25 mph. By Sunday night, skies begin to clear and temperatures drop sharply to around 30 degrees inland.

Monday turns mostly sunny but cooler, with highs near 48. Monday night dips to 27 degrees, raising the risk of frost and a light freeze across inland New Hanover and Brunswick counties. Protect sensitive plants and bring pets indoors.

Sunshine continues Tuesday near 49 degrees before a gradual warming trend builds midweek. Highs rebound into the lower 60s by Wednesday, hinting at early spring vibes as we move toward late week.
