WILMINGTON, NC – It’s a cloudy and breezy Tuesday along the Carolina coast, as below-normal temperatures and on-and-off light rain persist through much of the day, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Highs will reach the mid-50s inland and lower 60s near the coast, with northeast winds gusting 25 to 30 mph. A Gale Warning remains in effect for the coastal waters, where seas could build to 5–10 feet.

Rainfall will be intermittent and light, with total accumulation limited to a few tenths of an inch. Showers are expected to linger into tonight, when lows will fall into the upper 40s inland and lower 50s along the coast.

Forecasters say breezy and cool conditions will continue midweek, with improving weather expected by late Wednesday into Thursday.
