BLACKSBURG, VA – The National Weather Service in Blacksburg reports that on-and-off rain will persist across southwest Virginia and the surrounding region through much of today, gradually tapering off by late afternoon.
Another round of widespread rain is forecast to move in Wednesday, with heavier amounts likely along the Blue Ridge, and continue into Thursday, before ending late in the day.
Temperatures will stay 10 to 15 degrees below normal, with highs generally in the 40s and 50s and overnight lows dipping into the 30s and lower 40s.
By Friday, conditions should turn dry but breezy, bringing a cooler pattern just in time for Halloween.
Forecasters note that lingering clouds and precipitation through midweek will make for gloomy, chilly days across much of the region before improvement late in the week.
