Cleveland, Ohio – Residents across northern Ohio can expect a welcome break from the daytime warmth tonight as temperatures fall into the 50s across much of the region, although lingering wildfire smoke will continue to create hazy skies in some locations through daybreak Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, mostly clear skies will allow temperatures to cool efficiently overnight. Most inland communities are expected to see lows in the mid to upper 50s, while communities along the Lake Erie shoreline remain milder in the lower 60s because of the lake’s moderating influence.
Forecast lows include 61 degrees in Cleveland, 64 in Sandusky, 62 in Toledo, 60 in Findlay, 56 in Mansfield, 59 in Marion, 56 in Akron, 56 in Canton, 55 in Youngstown, 60 in Ashtabula, 61 in Erie, Pennsylvania, and 53 in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
While conditions will be comfortable for sleeping and outdoor evening activities, wildfire smoke drifting into the region will continue to produce periods of haze and could reduce air quality for sensitive groups. Individuals with asthma, heart disease or other respiratory conditions should limit prolonged outdoor exertion if smoke becomes more noticeable.
The cooler overnight temperatures will provide a refreshing start to Monday before warmer summer weather returns during the day. Residents should continue monitoring local air quality updates as smoke concentrations may fluctuate depending on changing wind patterns.
