Cleveland, Ohio – Temperatures will plunge into the lower 20s overnight, putting crops, backyard gardens, and exposed plumbing at risk across much of Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania before sunrise Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Freeze Warning remains in effect from 11 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Monday, covering north-central, northeast, and northwest Ohio, along with Erie and Crawford counties in Pennsylvania. Overnight lows are expected to bottom out between 22°F and 28°F, cold enough to kill sensitive vegetation.

Cities including Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and Findlay will all see sub-freezing conditions by early Monday morning, with the coldest readings likely in inland areas such as Mansfield, Wooster, and Marion. Along the Lake Erie shoreline—from Lorain to Ashtabula—temperatures may hover slightly higher but will still drop below freezing for several hours.

Gardeners should cover or bring in plants immediately, while homeowners are urged to insulate or drip outdoor faucets to prevent pipe damage. վաղ commuters could encounter frost on bridges and overpasses, especially on I-90, I-71, and rural routes.

The freeze threat will ease after 11 a.m. Monday as temperatures rebound, but additional advisories could follow if cold air lingers into early week.
