CLEVELAND, Ohio — This holiday season, theaters across Northeast Ohio are buzzing with festive performances. Whether you’re planning a date night or a family outing, here are five live theater productions worth catching this Christmas season.

Tomáseen Foley’s A Celtic Christmas

Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, A Celtic Christmas brings the warmth of an Irish Christmas Eve to the stage. The performance re-creates families from western Ireland gathering to share songs, dances and stories passed down through generations.

The show takes place at the Hanna Theatre on Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $46 to $117 and are available through the Playhouse Square website.

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol

The timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghostly visitors returns to Cleveland’s Mimi Ohio Theatre. Follow Scrooge as he’s guided by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future toward redemption and the true spirit of the holiday.

Performances run Nov. 28–Dec. 21. Tickets range from $36 to $107. All attendees must have a ticket, and children must be at least 2 years old.

A Christmas Story

With the iconic house from A Christmas Story located right here in Cleveland, this hometown favorite is a must-see. Watch Ralphie dream of his perfect Christmas, complete with his pink bunny pajamas and his coveted Red Ryder BB gun.

Performances run Nov. 30–Dec. 21. Tickets range from $36 to $120. Children must be 2 years or older and have their own ticket.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical

The beloved Dr. Seuss classic comes to life on stage in this heartwarming musical. Follow the Grinch’s journey from grumpy to generous as he discovers the true meaning of Christmas — and maybe grows his heart three sizes along the way.

The production runs at the KeyBank State Theatre from Dec. 10–14. Tickets range from $24 to $102. Audience members must be at least 2 years old, and all children need their own ticket.

The Nutcracker

The beloved ballet returns to Playhouse Square this holiday season. Set to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s timeless score and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffman’s story, The Nutcracker enchants audiences with dazzling costumes, choreography and stage magic.

Performances take place at Connor Palace from Dec. 12–21. Tickets range from $36 to $156. Each attendee must have a ticket, and children must be 2 years or older.
