Children’s Home Hit by Alleged Embezzlement of Hundreds of Thousands

Pontiac, IL – A former employee of Salem Children’s Home in Flanagan is facing serious allegations of embezzlement involving hundreds of thousands of dollars. Stacey Benge was taken into custody on May 30, following an extensive investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation commenced on May 13, when the sheriff’s office received a report of theft and embezzlement from the children’s home. It was reported that the missing funds, amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars, were allegedly taken by Benge over an unspecified period.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Benge was booked into the Livingston County Jail on felony charges and subsequently released. The sheriff’s office noted that all parties are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
