Chicago, IL – Chicagoland is set for a chilly and wet start to the week as lake effect showers sweep through the area Monday and Tuesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted a significant drop in temperatures, with daytime highs expected to reach only the mid-50s by midweek, and overnight lows potentially falling into the 30s.
According to the NWS, showers may lead to slick road conditions, particularly during peak commuting hours. Drivers on major routes such as Interstate 290 and Route 41 should prepare for reduced visibility and plan for extra travel time. Cooler weather will bring a noticeable chill by Wednesday, with frost possible overnight in areas outside the city.
