Chicago, IL – The final days of October will start on a quiet note before rain chances return midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago.
Forecasters say Monday will stay dry and seasonable, with high temperatures ranging from the low 50s to around 60 degrees. Clouds will increase Monday night ahead of a passing storm system expected to bring scattered rain showers to parts of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana Tuesday into Wednesday.
According to the NWS, rain chances range from 30% to 60% Tuesday and taper slightly midweek. While some areas may stay dry, forecasters caution that a few light showers could linger into Wednesday, especially near the Lake Michigan shoreline where conditions will also turn breezy.
Temperatures will remain consistent in the mid-50s throughout the period, with nighttime lows in the 30s and 40s. The NWS noted that “seasonable temperatures will prevail,” keeping the region in a typical late-October pattern.
By Thursday, drier weather is expected to return, setting the stage for a cool but calm lead-up to Halloween weekend.
Residents are encouraged to plan for variable conditions, as the timing and extent of midweek rain may shift depending on storm track developments.
