Chicago, IL – A significant winter storm is expected to impact travel across northern Illinois on Saturday, bringing several inches of snow, reduced visibility, and slippery roads, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago.

What to Expect Tomorrow:
Forecasters say snow will begin late Friday night and continue through Saturday evening, with the heaviest snowfall expected between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. During that period, snow rates may reach one inch per hour, leading to snow-covered roads and very low visibility.

Expected snow totals range from 5 to 9 inches south of Joliet and Kankakee, to 7 to 11 inches across the Chicago metro area, including Aurora, Elgin, and Waukegan. Rockford could also see similar amounts, making this one of the more impactful early-season storms of the year.

Travelers should consider altering or postponing plans for Saturday afternoon, as hazardous travel conditions are expected. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra space, and avoid crowding snowplows during cleanup operations.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve by early Sunday, though icy patches and lingering snow are likely to persist into the morning commute.
