Chicago, Illinois – Drivers in northern Illinois may encounter patchy fog during the early morning and again overnight, but otherwise, clear skies and unseasonably warm conditions will dominate through midweek. Highs will climb into the upper 80s and even touch 90 degrees across much of the Chicago area before relief arrives this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, sunny and dry conditions will continue through Thursday, with lakeshore neighborhoods staying slightly cooler in the upper 70s. Fog could reduce visibility during the morning commute today and Wednesday, especially along rural roadways and low-lying areas.
By Friday, moisture returns with isolated showers and a 20% chance of thunderstorms late in the day. Rain chances increase into Saturday, when scattered storms may bring brief downpours across Cook, DuPage, and Lake counties. Temperatures will also fall back into the low 70s to low 80s, ending the stretch of summer-like heat.
Residents are advised to monitor conditions if traveling Friday evening or Saturday, as pop-up storms could impact outdoor plans. More unsettled weather is possible into early next week.
