Chicago Man Charged with Assaulting Pregnant Girlfriend, Police Officer at Oakbrook Theatre

Oak Brook, IL – DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Chief of Police Brian Strockis have reported the arrest of a Chicago man for multiple charges, including aggravated battery to a police officer and a pregnant woman. Daveon Taylor, 22, is accused of allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend and a police officer before fleeing the scene.

According to officials, the event unfolded on January 10, 2024, at the AMC Theaters in Oak Brook. Taylor allegedly punched his pregnant girlfriend in the face during a dispute. As he tried to escape, he reportedly brushed against a police officer with his car and hit a squad car. He was later apprehended by Wheaton police.

State’s Attorney Berlin emphasized the severity of domestic violence and its lasting emotional impact, expressing gratitude for the police officers’ efforts in handling such dangerous situations. Chief Strockis condemned Taylor’s actions, highlighting the serious consequences of criminal behavior in Oak Brook and DuPage County.

Taylor’s arraignment is scheduled for January 29, 2024. The public is reminded that these charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
