Chicago Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Crestwood Following Kidnapping, Carjacking

Chicago Ridge, IL – A Chicago man was arrested Tuesday night after an armed crime spree spanning multiple southwest suburbs. Damonte J. McCorkle, 25, allegedly kidnapped a woman in Palos Park and carjacked a man in Worth earlier that day.

Chicago Ridge Police attempted to stop McCorkle on Southwest Highway near 103rd Street, but he fled, sparking a pursuit through nearby towns. The chase ended in Crestwood at 135th Street and Cicero Avenue when McCorkle’s vehicle collided with a police squad car.

Police, assisted by Robbins officers, arrested McCorkle at the scene. He was armed with a handgun, which was recovered. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

McCorkle faces multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping and carjacking, filed by Palos Park and Worth police. Chicago Ridge police charged him with fleeing and eluding and several traffic violations.

Authorities credited teamwork among local law enforcement for the arrest.
