Chicago Man Arrested After Displaying Firearms on YouTube, Gun Found in Refrigerator

Chicago, IL – An 18-year-old Chicago man was arrested Wednesday after authorities discovered a firearm in his refrigerator following a video where he displayed guns on YouTube. Derrick Crawford’s arrest came during a home compliance check conducted by the Cook County Sheriff’s Electronic Monitoring Unit.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, investigators were alerted to Crawford’s activity after seeing a YouTube video of him displaying firearms. Acting on this information, officers conducted a search of his home and found a loaded rifle hidden inside a refrigerator.

Crawford, who was already under electronic monitoring, was charged with felony violation of his pretrial release and illegal possession of a firearm. Sheriff’s officials said the arrest highlights the importance of monitoring and responding swiftly to violations.

Crawford remains in custody, and the investigation continues.
