NAPERVILLE, IL – In a joint statement from the Naperville Police Department and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Ronald Richardson, 34, of Chicago, was arrested at TopGolf on September 26 for alleged illegal possession of a loaded firearm.

Officers patrolling the family-friendly facility reportedly observed a gun in the driver’s seat of a parked car. When Richardson, currently on parole for a weapon conviction, returned, he was apprehended.

“What I find particularly troubling in this case is the allegation that Mr. Richardson was in possession of a loaded firearm at a family-friendly recreation facility,” DuPage County State’s Attorney, Robert Berlin, stressed in a statement Wednesday.  “Allegations such as those against Mr. Richardson will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be fully prosecuted.”

Berlin lauded the police’s proactive efforts in potentially averting a tragedy. The case marks the second time in under a month a felon has been allegedly found with a gun at the popular entertainment venue. Police Chief Jason Arres reaffirmed Naperville’s commitment to proactive policing for city safety. Richardson’s arraignment is slated for October 23.
