Chicago, IL – Federal prosecutors say a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer in the Chicago area has been indicted on charges alleging he sexually assaulted and robbed multiple women while acting under color of law.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, 44-year-old Luis Uribe of Pingree Grove, IL, faces ten counts of civil rights deprivation and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Uribe was arrested Tuesday morning and pleaded not guilty in federal court. A detention hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15, 2025.

Prosecutors allege Uribe used his authority as a CBP officer to carry a firearm and conduct law-enforcement duties, then allegedly used that authority to sexually assault and rob women in the suburbs. According to the indictment, Uribe allegedly brandished a firearm in at least one assault. He is also accused of robbing and attempting to sexually assault two additional women.

The alleged crimes occurred in 2022 in Schaumburg, IL and Naperville, IL, according to federal investigators.

The FBI’s Chicago Field Office is now seeking potential additional victims. Authorities released a public notice Tuesday urging anyone with information to call (312) 239-7423. The hotline is available in English and Chinese.

If convicted, Uribe faces a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in federal prison.

Authorities emphasized that an indictment is not proof of guilt and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
