Chicago, IL – Warmer temperatures will greet Illinois residents this weekend, with highs climbing into the low 50s by Sunday before a storm system brings rain and colder conditions early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will see partly sunny skies and breezy conditions, with highs reaching 41°F. Sunday promises mild weather with a high near 50°F, but rain is expected to develop late Sunday evening, particularly along and southeast of I-55. Precipitation chances increase to 60% overnight, with gusty winds accompanying the showers.

Residents should prepare for a sharp drop in temperatures Monday as colder air moves in behind the rain system. Monday’s high of 50°F will steadily decrease through the day, falling into the 30s by evening. Expect lows near 22°F by Tuesday morning, with highs on Tuesday struggling to reach 36°F under mostly cloudy skies.

The start of next week could also pose challenges for early-week commuters as the rain transitions into gusty winds and falling temperatures, creating the potential for slick spots during the Monday night drive.

Temperatures will remain below average through midweek, with highs in the upper 20s Wednesday and lows in the teens. Residents are advised to secure outdoor decorations ahead of gusty weekend winds and monitor weather updates closely for potential travel impacts Sunday evening.
