Cheyenne, WY – A dramatic temperature swing is set to hit southeast Wyoming within hours, with record warmth Monday giving way to a sharp cooldown and snow chances by Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, highs will surge into the mid-70s Monday in Cheyenne and near the mid-80s in Scottsbluff before a cold front arrives Monday night. That front will drop temperatures into the 40s Tuesday, with rain changing to snow at times, especially during the morning and midday hours.

Communities along the I-25 corridor, including Cheyenne, Laramie, and Wheatland, could see wet roads and reduced visibility as precipitation develops. Laramie is expected to remain cooler, with highs only in the 40s Tuesday and Wednesday, increasing the likelihood of snow mixing in.

Conditions briefly improve Thursday with another warmup into the 60s and 70s, but strong winds return ahead of another system arriving Thursday night. That system could bring additional rain and snow along with gusty winds impacting travel across southeastern Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle.

Residents should prepare for rapid changes in conditions, especially between Monday night and Tuesday morning. Additional advisories may be issued as the midweek systems develop.
