Champaign, IL – A 17-year-old male from Champaign is in critical condition after being shot early Saturday morning on Market Street. Police responded at 5:13 a.m. to reports of a shooting on the 1400 block of N. Market Street. Upon arrival, officers located the wounded teen and provided life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. The victim remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Officers believe the teen was walking along Market Street when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been hit. The investigation faces challenges due to a lack of witnesses. According to the Champaign Police Department, detectives are canvassing the area, searching for witnesses and video footage that could aid the investigation.

Police urge any residents or businesses with surveillance footage to come forward. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
