Champaign, IL – Residents of Champaign should brace for stormy weather late in the week as conditions are expected to deteriorate. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the current fair weather with below-normal temperatures will continue through the weekend, providing a brief period of calm before more turbulent conditions emerge.
As the week progresses, humidity levels will start to climb, particularly by midweek, setting the stage for storm activity. By Thursday, Champaign and surrounding areas could see the highest chance of storms, with temperatures ranging between 81-87°F and a 40% chance of thunderstorms.
Before the storms hit, Monday will bring increased humidity with temperatures in the upper 60s to mid-70s and a slight chance of rain. Tuesday’s weather is expected to be more settled, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 76-82°F.
Wednesday will signal the start of more unsettled weather, with a 40% chance of showers and highs in the low 80s. By late Thursday, thunderstorms are expected to move into the area, with continued storm chances lingering into Thursday night.
Nighttime temperatures will stay mild throughout the week, ranging from the upper 50s to upper 60s, but residents should be prepared for potentially severe weather late in the week.
