Champaign, IL – A shooting early Friday on E. University Avenue left two people hospitalized in Champaign. Champaign Police were dispatched at 2:58 a.m. to an area hospital after two individuals arrived with gunshot wounds.
According to Champaign Police, a 41-year-old male and a 28-year-old female, both from Champaign, were injured. The male suffered a potentially life-threatening injury to the abdomen, while the female sustained a graze wound. Both are in stable condition.
The victims were attending a gathering in the parking lot of a business in the 600 block of E. University Avenue when a verbal altercation escalated, resulting in gunfire. The suspect fled the scene.
