Green Bay, WI – Rain chances will increase across the region through Friday, peaking in the evening with the potential for thunderstorms starting late afternoon. According to the US National Weather Service Green Bay, a few strong storms are possible Friday evening, bringing isolated rainfall amounts greater than one inch.
Gusty south winds and high waves will create hazardous conditions for small craft and swimmers on Lake Michigan today and tonight. A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from 10 a.m. today through 1 a.m. tonight, with waves expected to reach 4 to 7 feet and strong currents making swimming dangerous. Swimmers are advised to stay out of the water when waves are high.
A Small Craft Advisory is also in place from 10 a.m. today through 7 a.m. Saturday. Winds will blow south at 15 to 25 knots, with waves in the bay building to 2 to 3 feet and waves on Lake Michigan reaching 4 to 7 feet.
The weekend outlook shows more rain and storms possible Friday night. A cold front is expected to bring additional showers and storms to the north on Saturday, with below-normal temperatures anticipated on Sunday. Highs will be in the upper 60s to middle 70s today and cooler in the low 70s on Sunday. The start of next week will bring sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s.
