Austin, TX – Strong storms may sweep across Central Texas late Friday through early Saturday, bringing a risk of severe weather to the Austin-San Antonio corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, a cold front arriving Friday night is expected to trigger isolated to scattered thunderstorms across the region. Some of these storms may become strong to severe, especially overnight Friday into early Saturday morning. The primary concerns include damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and isolated hail.

Unseasonably warm temperatures in the 70s and low 80s are forecast to continue until the front passes. Nighttime lows Thursday into Friday will hover in the upper 60s to low 70s across much of Central Texas, including cities like San Marcos, New Braunfels, and Round Rock.

By Saturday morning, cooler air will begin filtering into the region. Highs will dip into the 60s and 70s through the weekend, with lows in the 40s and 50s returning to Hill Country.

Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings. Outdoor plans late Friday or early Saturday should be reconsidered, especially in open areas vulnerable to lightning or wind.

Conditions are expected to stabilize by Sunday with minimal weather impacts into early next week.
