Oklahoma City, Okla. – Residents across central Oklahoma face dangerous heat Monday with temperatures near 98°F and heat index values climbing to 105°F, as the National Weather Service warns of a lingering heat advisory paired with scattered storm chances.

According to the NWS in Norman, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 4 p.m. Monday, with gusty winds and brief heavy rain possible. South winds will hold between 6 and 9 mph, offering little relief from the heat.

Communities including Edmond, Norman, and Midwest City could see strong afternoon storms, while Tulsa may also face scattered development by Tuesday. Tuesday remains hot with highs near 97°F and “feels-like” readings above 103°F before another round of isolated storms late in the day.

The combination of extreme heat and storm potential could impact evening commutes on I-35 and I-40. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets.

Storm chances ease by midweek, but high temperatures near 94°F Wednesday and 91°F Thursday will continue to pressure power grids and outdoor workers.

Heat advisories remain possible into midweek as Oklahoma endures another stretch of summer extremes.
