COLUMBUS, Ohio – Low clouds hang over the Scioto Valley this morning, blanketing much of central and southwestern Ohio in dense fog. Drivers across I-70, I-71, and Route 33 should expect reduced visibility through daybreak, with some areas near the Scioto and Great Miami Rivers dropping below a quarter mile. The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Special Weather Statement urging caution through midmorning as the fog slowly lifts.

According to forecasters, calm winds and high humidity have created ideal conditions for patchy dense fog, especially in valleys and low-lying areas from Columbus south to Wilmington and west toward Dayton and Cincinnati. Motorists are advised to use low beams, leave extra following distance, and allow extra travel time this morning. Conditions improve by 9 a.m. as sunshine breaks through, warming the region quickly into the upper 50s by afternoon.

Tuesday and Wednesday bring a stretch of pleasant, late-fall weather with mostly sunny skies, light winds, and highs in the lower to mid-60s — ideal for outdoor work, school events, and early holiday travel planning. By Thursday night, clouds will increase as a stronger system approaches from the west. Rain is likely by Friday, possibly marking the first wetter pattern in more than a week.

While no wintry weather is expected yet, models hint at a colder push settling in next week. For now, Ohioans can enjoy several bright, mild November days once the fog lifts — a calm pause before the next front brings showers and an early taste of Thanksgiving season chill.
