COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a quiet start to the week, Central Ohio is in for a burst of stormy weather Tuesday, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected to sweep through the region by afternoon. Drivers across Columbus and nearby suburbs could face slick roads and ponding during the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, showers will build late Monday night, becoming widespread Tuesday. Rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch are possible, with isolated thunderstorms capable of producing heavier downpours. Winds will shift from the south at 6 to 9 mph before turning north as the front passes.

Conditions will clear rapidly by Wednesday, bringing sunny skies and highs near 67°F. The rest of the week looks dry and seasonable, with daytime highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and overnight lows dipping into the low 40s.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and allow extra time for travel during Tuesday’s storms. Sunshine is expected to dominate again by midweek, continuing into the weekend.
