Binghamton, N.Y. – Residents in northern Oneida County could wake to a frosty morning Saturday as overnight lows dip into the mid-30s, with some Tug Hill valleys briefly dropping below freezing. The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, warning that sensitive plants may be damaged or killed if left uncovered.

According to the National Weather Service office in Binghamton, temperatures between 32 and 36 degrees will allow frost to develop across much of the county, especially in rural and sheltered areas. The coldest air is expected in Boonville and surrounding higher elevations along the Tug Hill Plateau.

Gardeners are urged to cover late-season vegetables, bring in potted plants, and take steps to protect outdoor flowers before nightfall Friday. While no impacts to travel are expected, early risers may see frost coating cars, lawns, and rooftops before sunrise.

The Frost Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday, with similar cold conditions possible again Saturday night.
