Hastings, Nebraska – Strong thunderstorms and dangerous winds could rattle central Nebraska through Tuesday, with the most severe weather expected Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will climb into the 70s and 80s before cooling off midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, thunderstorms are possible this afternoon through tonight, and again on Monday. Winds from the southeast shifting to northwest could gust up to 40 mph on Sunday and Tuesday, and near 30 mph Monday. Highs will range from 72°F to 85°F today and tomorrow, dropping to the upper 50s to low 70s on Tuesday.

Cities including Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings may see periods of heavy rain, lightning, and brief wind damage. Motorists should use caution, especially on east-west highways like I-80 and US-6, where crosswinds could affect high-profile vehicles. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor objects and monitor NOAA weather alerts throughout the day.
