Indianapolis, Ind. – Central Indiana will enjoy a refreshing break from midsummer heat through the end of the workweek before temperatures climb steadily over the weekend. The warming trend could culminate in the potential for severe thunderstorms on Monday as hotter, more humid air returns to the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, temperatures will remain below normal through Friday, with afternoon highs ranging from 74 to 81 degrees Thursday and 75 to 82 degrees Friday under partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Dry weather is expected to dominate through the weekend, providing favorable conditions for travel, festivals and outdoor recreation.
The warming trend begins Saturday, when highs rise into the upper 70s to middle 80s, before climbing to 84 to 92 degrees Sunday as humidity gradually increases across central Indiana.
By Monday, temperatures are forecast to reach 87 to 94 degrees, creating a much warmer and more humid atmosphere. According to the National Weather Service, severe weather is possible Monday, although forecasters emphasize that the exact timing, location and intensity of any storms remain uncertain.
Residents should take advantage of the comfortable weather through Friday while preparing for hotter conditions early next week.
