Central Indiana Faces Flash Flood Threat: Up to 5 Inches of Rain Possible

Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana is bracing for significant rainfall today, with the US National Weather Service in Indianapolis issuing a flash flood watch. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with localized areas potentially receiving up to 5 inches of rain. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated in south-central Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service, there is at least a 15% chance of rapid onset flooding. The flash flood watch remains in effect until 2 PM Wednesday. Additional storms, following heavy rain overnight, will contribute to the flash flood threat.

Today’s high will reach 86°F, with temperatures dropping to 71°F tonight. The chance of precipitation remains at 100%, tapering off slightly on Wednesday with a 60% chance of rain and a high of 84°F.

Thursday and Friday will bring some relief, with sunny skies and cooler temperatures of 79°F and 80°F, respectively. The weekend forecast remains favorable, with highs in the low 80s and clear skies.
