Central Illinois – Central Illinois residents can expect changing weather this weekend, with a dry Friday leading into a rain-soaked Saturday. A frontal system will bring widespread showers, potentially impacting Veterans Day events and outdoor plans. Rainfall amounts could range between 0.25 to 0.75 inches, with the heaviest precipitation anticipated south of I-70.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will start with seasonal, sunny skies and a high around 60 degrees, providing a brief respite from the recent chill. Temperatures are expected to dip into the low 40s Friday night under mostly clear skies, before rain moves in on Saturday afternoon. Gusty southeast winds up to 17 mph could accompany the rain, making Saturday feel cooler.

Saturday’s showers are forecast to be widespread, particularly along the I-70 corridor, where rain totals may reach 0.75 inches. The rain is expected to continue into Saturday night, creating potentially slick road conditions and challenging visibility for drivers on I-70 and surrounding areas.

Sunday should bring gradual clearing with only isolated showers expected in the morning, allowing temperatures to rise into the low 60s. Veterans Day on Monday looks mostly sunny with a high near 60, giving locals a pleasant day for outdoor gatherings.

Looking ahead to the week, temperatures are forecast to remain mild, with highs around 62 on Tuesday. However, residents should stay alert for changing weather conditions as the front moves through, especially if traveling or planning outdoor activities this weekend.
